We just wanted to take a quick moment to thank you all for an amazing trip, from the moment that you picked us up at the airport we didnt' have to think of anything. We appreciated all of your suggestions and places to go to.. and maybe not to go to.. LOL! We had not problems with the van, and every morning we enjoyed our view at our campsite while stipping fresh brewed coffee. The van had everything we needed on a daily basis, besides an ice make...but hey...what can ya do! We have been telling everyone and given out your web site and phone number to many of our friends here in Canada. We hope to see you again next year, but my schooling will depend on all of that. Renting from Happy Campers Hawaii was great. It fit us three girls perfect, and was fun to bob around the Island in and have the option to go anywhere at any time. I would suggest this over staying in a condo or anything the whole time you are on the Island. When we dropped the van off the guy even took us to the bus stop in downtown Hilo, rather then us having to get a taxi ! Bonnie Ryan 9/29/11

That was the one of our best VW camper van trips ever! We have rented from several places around the world, but your operation really took the cake! You were so helpful from the beginning of our reservation and then when we got here we couldnt believe how helpful you all were, and the van was so beautiful and clean like a show room car! The extra maps in the car and your guidence made our trip go so smoothly. It was a 14 day trip that we wish didn't have to end! Nothing says it better then "This was the best adventure" our family has ever had! We saw red hot lava flowing in to the ocean, hiked down to the beautiful Waipio valley and that amazing waterfall, kayaked, swam with the dolphins, snorkeled everyday, and camped by the ocean at night. My kids will never forget this trip, and we hope to be able to keep coming over and renting the van Holo Holo. We had such a wonderful time renting and living in the Volkswagen Van on the Big Island of Hawaii!! We have a special love for Volkswagen Vans and it was so much fun to cruise the island in one!! It came equipped with everything we needed for our journey to be so perfect!!! You thought of everything!!! It was so nice to have the ability to cook and sleep anywhere we wanted to go, as we were out seeing the incredible beauty of the ocean and the mountains. You even equipped her with linens and blankets!! She ran excellent, was dependable and very easy to drive, and great on gas!! Your van looked and ran brand new!!! In the past, we've stayed at the fancy hotels in the Big Island as every good tourist normally does, but you haven't truly experienced the Big Island's diverse beauty until you have camped in it. Just add clothes and food and you provide the rest of the ingredients you'll need for an A+ camp experience in Hawaii! Mahalo for providing a most wonderful experience that we will never forget. Hey guys, thanks for the great vacation. Lisa and I had a blast. Tolula Blue ran perfectly, nice work: she drives like a dream. The van was stocked with everything we needed, and more. Next time we have to spend extra nights at Ho'okena and Punalu'u. They were beautiful beaches and it was like having our own private hotel right there. Highlights were definitely swimming with the turtles in Punalu'u. Seeing the lava flowing into the ocean at Volcano National Park. And of course snorkeling and watching sunsets at Ho'okena. Can't wait to do it again. Take care in the meantime!

You guys really did help make our tropical adventure dream vacation come true. As a longtime VW owner and Big Island traveler I was delighted to find out about your wonderful rental service. I was even more happy when my wife expressed an interest in our renting one of your Westies and camping our way around the Big Island. Your great web site made it easy to explore the possibilities and make our choices and arrangements. Dealing with you over the phone and by e-mail was a pleasure . We were greeted with big Aloha at the Hilo airport and given a thorough familiarization with the ways of the bus and were pleased to find the cleanest rental vehicle we’ve ever rented.
On our first full day of vacationing we were traveling along highway 11 between Volcano and Na’alehu (gotta have that sweetbread) with the sun blazing, sweet music from Gabby on the stereo, a lovely woman in the seat beside me and the magnificent view of the big waves breaking on the Kau coast rolling by for mile after mile when that beautiful bikini babe next to me looked over at me driving the bus and remarked that I looked like I was living my dream. I was! Few days in any life are so near to ideal but that day was as close as I’ve been in a long time. To go from drizzly Seattle winter to tropical paradise in under 24 hours is one fine transition. Topped off the day with dinner at the Manago Hotel and grabbed a prime camping spot at Ho’okena Beach Park. We had 4 more days to go and they just got better and better. Your Westy provided the perfect Island Hale on wheels and lacked nothing. Renting from someone with the experience has made us feel a strong sense of security and confidence in our ride. We have visited the Big Island many times and had a lot of wonderful experiences and adventures but none finer than our 5 day Big Island camping adventure. I knew on the third night out , at Spencer Beach Park, when my blissful looking deeply tanned wife looked at me all dreamy eyed and said “ I could get used to this “ that she too was hooked on the Westy adventure experience . We both feel that we not only rented the best vehicle/room ever but made some new friends in the process. I’m now shopping around for a Westy of our own to camp around Washington State. Thanks for introducing us to Westfalia camping and now you’ve got us dreaming big!

We had a wonderful time, the van was just perfect; you were great and we found the Island to be full of friendly people and the best sunsets in the world! Living in the well appointed Westphalia got us closer to the local scene, we parked in some beautiful places, enjoyed every minute of our 3 week stay and the best part is we always had our house with us, cooking sleeping and traveling in the van is THE way to go!
We'll definitely do this again and recommend it to our friends.

We found you online and decided to give them a try. We wanted the freedom to travel around the island without having to unpack and settle in to hotels every evening. From the second we landed in Hilo, our experience was incredible. We marveled at the pristine condition of the vehicle, which looked like it had just been driven off a car showroom floor, rather than being more than 20 years old. It's clear that you take pride in your vehicles and take extreme care in maintaining them. We waved goodbye and headed off on our adventure. Later that afternoon, upon parking at our first camping destination, we began preparing for dinner. You guys had thought of everything, from a frying pan to salt and pepper shakers. They even included a phone book in case you needed to look up a phone number! We have been to the Big Island many times, but have decided that our two weeks camping in the VW Westfalia camping van was one of the best trips we have ever taken. The last few days of the trip were spent at a friend's wedding, and the entire wedding party was jealous of our plush home on wheels, and all wished they had thought of doing the same thing. We can't wait to return to the Big Island and have another adventure!

Aloha! We just returned last night from our wonderful trip to Hawaii. We can not thank you enough for renting us your van and having her show us around the Big Island in style! A camper like her is THE way to see the Island. She was neat and clean, perfectly outfitted and ran better than probably any V dub I`ve ever had the pleasure ( or displeasure ) of traveling in. Before we left Hilo, some guy at a stop light gave us the thumbs up and complemented us on our great looking tires! We had a good laugh at that one.

We made it back to cold (brrr!) Idaho. It isn't just the beauty of the Islands that draws us back, but the wonderful people we meet. This trip we made a number of new friends and reacquainted with old.
The van was a dream. Curtis and I both grew up with family camping vacations. It was wonderful snorkeling at Spenser and after a quick shower crawling into bed with the sound of the waves. We were up with the dawn, which will make the 3 hour time difference easier to transition.
We really appreciate your providing this service and I hope we will be able to return before too terribly long. We tell all of our friends about our trip and give them your contact information.

We had such a great time on the Big Island. Volcano National Park was really special. We went on a couple of unique hikes and David was able to surf at a couple of spots. He was psyched. The camper was big fun.

We have family on the Big Island and decided that while we were over visiting for the holidays, we would take a camping adventure. We toured the entire coast, spending evenings at the variety of wonderful camping facilities that Hawaii has to offer. If you are considering an independent tour of Hawaii, we highly recommend renting a VW van!
