CAMPER VAN RENTAL FEE for each 24 hour period:
- $130.00 per day for POP-TOPS
- $120.00 per day for SUN-ROOFS
Hawaii state tax at 4.166% per day
Hawaii Rental Car Surcharge at $3.00 per day.
$35 van detailing and cleaning fee.
Happy Campers Hawaii has a 7 day minimum camper van rental, but shorter rentals are sometimes accepted depending on availability. Rentals less than seven days accrue a short rental fee. Please contact us regarding availability and dates.
Reservation Deposit to secure a van for a designated time period is $250.00. This deposit is due at the time of the booking confirmation and is applied to the total cost of your van rental.
Ask about our discounts! We offer discounted prices for rentals longer than ten days. We love to have our visitors enjoy the Big Island for as long as they can in one of our Hawaii camper van rentals!
Our office is located in HILO, HAWAII at 875 Kanoelehua Ave-Hwy 11. We only provide shuttle service in the HILO area between the hours of 7:00am-4:00pm, Monday thourgh Saturday. WE ARE CLOSED ON SUNDAYS.
We do not serve the KONA AIRPORT at this time and apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause. Please ask us about ways to get to Hilo from Kona!
SHUTTLE SERVICE CLOSURES: Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, December 24th-25th, and December 31st-January 1st. Please make your travel arrangements around these special days, mahalo!
LATE FEES AND EXTRA HOURS: Your VW camper rental day consists of a 24-hour period, starting at the time your rental begins. Extra hours may be available at request, but are subject to charges of $20.00 per additional hour in excess of the (24 hour) rental day, until the extra hour charges equal the daily rate specified herein. Late fees will apply for any vechile not returned to the proper destination at the time discussed by Happy Campers Hawaii and the customer at the time of van pick-up.
FUEL AND SERVICE CHARGE: We will provide you with a FULL TANK OF PREMIUM FUEL in each of our camper van rentals. Our policy is for the van to be returned FULL with PREMIUM FUEL. If Happy Campers Hawaii needs to fill the fuel tank when it is dropped off, we will charge a service fee of $10.00 for each gallon that we put into the tank and process the fee from the credit card we have on file.
SECURITY AND CLEANING DEPOSIT: We require a $500.00 deposit to be "held" on your credit card at the time that your VW camper rental begins. We DO NOT run the card and collect the money. As long as the camper van comes back in good working order without: breakage and damage inside or out, staining, soiling, or unusual odors beyond normal use, there is no additional fee. If there is damage, repairs, or cleaning that needs to be addressed beyond the normal use of the van, the customer will be required to pay for the damages and/or cleaning. The additional fee is determined by Happy Campers Hawaii and/or a reputable cleaning/repair service. There is absoluely NO smoking or pets allowed in our camper van rentals. We pride ourselves in keeping our Hawaii vacation rentals looking and running in top shape for each and every customer, and we hope that our customers will do the same! You can be sure that before you rent one of our custom VW camper vans it has been cleaned, sanitized, inspected, and checked by a trained auto mechanic for safety and dependability.
INSURANCE COVERAGE:
OPTION 1 INSURANCE: For our customers residing in the United States and Canada. This coverage is your own personal automobile policy. It requires that you carry comprehensive coverage (liability and collision) which extends to rental vehicles.
OPTION 2 INSURANCE: For our international drivers (not available to U.S. or Canadian residents): This option provides liability coverage during your rental. An additional fee of $15.00 per day is added to the rental tariff for our insurance binder. In addition, there is also a $50.00 non-refunadable processing fee to place your name on our insurance policy.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
CANCELLATION FEE: All cancellations must be confirmed in writing (e-mail, fax, or letter). A $50.00 processing charge applies to all cancellations made at anytime after deposit is accepted. For cancellations made less then 3 weeks prior to scheduled reservation date of your VW camper rental, including no shows, the reservation deposit of $250.00 shall be forfeited in its entirety.
CHANGING OR SHORTENING RENTAL DATES: All changing or altering of reservation dates are subject to availability. A processing fee of $50 will be charged to customers that shorten their rental period by cancelling dates prior to three weeks before their starting date. A shortened trip request made after the three week cut-off, including during the rental period, will be charged for the original reservation dates. NO REFUND OR CREDIT WILL BE APPLIED.
ADDITIONAL CLEANING FEE FOR FAMILIES WITH CHILDREN: $25.00 per child
-- Only charged if the van comes back extremely dirty, soiled or damaged. This will be determined upon return of rental vehicle.
FORGOTTEN ITEMS: We will gladly ship back any items that are left in the VW camper rental at the customers exspense. The cost of shipping items will be determined by the U.S. Postal Service and will be charged to the credit car we have on file plus a $5.00 handling fee.
